外国语学院
外国语学院成立于2006年，是学校设立的第一批二级学院之一。学院以“立足珠三角，辐射大湾区，面向全世界”为方向，以“锐意改革、创新强院”为指导，紧密对接“一带一路”，充分发挥地区优势，走出了一条“重人品、厚基础、强能力、有特色”的发展之路。学院以“扎根人文，适应社会，夯实基础，突出应用”为人才培养宗旨，倡导“个性发展，人人成才”，注重培养学生的应用能力和创新能力，为珠三角地区输送了一批又一批优秀人才。
经过近20年的发展，现已形成英语、商务英语和日语三个专业并驾齐驱的格局，其中英语专业重点培养英语语言综合能力，以英语教育、翻译和语言文学为主要方向，为考研和从事相关行业打下坚实基础；商务英语和日语专业在打牢外语语言基本功的同时，着力培养学生从事国际贸易、跨境电商、国际会展等行业所需的能力。此外，两个英语类专业通过课程模块化建设，实现了跨专业发展模式，为培养复合型、应用型外语人才走上了一条“双循环”赋能的可持续发展之路。
学院师资力量雄厚，老中青结合、专兼职结合、国内外结合，年龄结构和职称结构都比较合理，是一支朝气蓬勃、奋发向上的队伍。学院先后承担了一批国家级、省部级科研和教研课题，取得了较为丰硕的成果，获得国家级、省级和校级教学竞赛特等奖、一等奖和二、三等奖。
学院始终把立德树人放在人才培养的首位，注重思想教育和品行养成教育，每届都有一批优秀学生入党，成为光荣的中国共产党党员。学生业余生活丰富多彩，除了党团活动和各种社团活动以外，还有各种竞赛，如外国语学院的两大传统赛事：语言技能大赛和职业技能大赛，为学生展现个人特长提供丰富的平台。
对外交流是外国语学院主要特色之一，学院先后与英国、加拿大、澳大利亚、日本等教育发达国家和我国台湾地区开展2+2、3+1等多种形式的合作和交流项目。
学院具有完善的教学设施和设备齐全的实训场所，多媒体课室覆盖率100%，智慧课室、语言实验室、同声传译实验室、云课堂等设施为教学和实训提供了优良的场所，极大的方便了学生在校期间的实习实践活动。此外，学院与一大批企业和公办中小学建立了长期实习实践基地，有效的拓宽了毕业实习和就业渠道。外国语学院毕业生就业率一直高达99%以上，就业起薪逐年升高。
学院坚持“刻苦、探究、思辨、创新”的学风建设，着力打造勤奋好学的优良学风，培养具有外语语言功底扎实，具有国际视野的高素质应用型人才。学生专四、专八、N1、N2等考试通过率节节升高，毕业生深造率一直名列学校前茅，每年都有不少同学考取研究生，在国内外著名高校攻读硕士和博士学位。

An Introduction to the School of Foreign Languages
The School of Foreign Languages (SFL) is one of the first academic schools established in 2006 by Guangzhou City University of Technology. With “Gaining a foothold in the Pearl River Delta, radiating through the Greater Bay Area and reaching out to the whole world” as the orientation, SFL has been striving to grow stronger by virtue of reform and innovation. At the same time, SFL is closely linked to the Belt and Road Initiative and gives full play to its regional advantages to maintain development by cultivating students with righteous characters, solid academic foundation, excellent practical abilities and distinctive qualities. Guided by the school moto—Rooted in Humanities, Adaptive to the Society, Competitive in Academic Foundation,Featuredin PracticalAbility, SFL also ensures success and personalized development for all students. Focusing on cultivating students’ skills in application and innovation, SFL has prepared batches of qualified graduates for the Pearl River Delta region.
Over the years, we have founded three equally important majors in our school, namely English, Business English and Japanese. The English major focuses on cultivating comprehensive English language skills, with English education, English translation and interpreting, and English language and literature as the main orientations, soas to lay a solid foundation for students’ taking part in the postgraduate entrance exam and undertaking related jobs after graduation. The Business English and Japanese majors also focus on cultivating students’ ability to engage in international trade, cross-border e-commerce, international exhibitions and other fields while building up their basic language skills. In addition, following the interdisciplinary development mode through the construction of curriculum modularization, the two English-related majors have been on a sustainable “dual circulation” development pattern to cultivate versatile and applied foreign language talents.
SFL boastsa well-structured team of elder, middle-aged and young, full-time and part-time, domestic and foreign teachers with diversified professional titles. So far, SFL has attained remarkable achievements in teaching and research since we have successively undertaken a number of national and provincial projects, and furthermore, our faculty members also have won us abundant honors, including prizes of teaching contests at the university, provincial and national levels.
SFL always pays attention to ideological and moral education, so a number of outstanding students have been admitted to the Communist Party of China every year. The students also enjoy a rich and colorful extracurricular life in school by joining in cluband the Communist Youth League activities and various competitions, such as the two traditional events: the Language Skills Competition and the Vocational Skills Competition.All thesehelp provide rich platforms for students to demonstrate their personal strengths.
International exchange is one of the main features of SFL since we have carried out various forms of cooperation and exchange programs such as “2+2” and “3+1” projects with educationally developed countries such as the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Japan, as well as the Taiwan region of China.
SFL has various up-to-date teaching facilities and well-equipped training rooms. All the classrooms are equipped with multi-media facilities. There are also intelligent online classrooms, language laboratories, simultaneous interpretation rooms and so on, providing good conditions for small-class teaching, in-school practiceand internship programs. Moreover, SFL has established long-term practice bases with a large number of enterprises and public primary and secondary schools, which have effectively providedvaluable opportunities for graduation internships and employment.Besides, SFL has witnessed over 99% employment rate of its graduates and ever-increasing starting salaries.
Adhering to the construction of the study atmosphere of “Dedication, Exploration, Reflection and Innovation”, SFL strives to create the fine study atmosphere of diligence to train high-level application-oriented professionals that have strong foreign language competence and a broad international vision. The pass rate of TEM-4 (Test for English Major), TEM-8, N1 (Japanese Language Proficiency Test), N2 and other examinations has been increasing tremendously. Moreover, the enrollment rate of admission to postgraduate programs has always been at the top of the university. Every year, many students are admitted to renowned universities at home and abroad to pursue their master and even doctoral degrees.
